PROJECT DESCRIPTION  

Annavasal, Pudukkottai and Viralimalai blocks are target area of the project in that aged people are at the orphans’ condition and neglected in both family and community. Pudukkottai is in centre Tamil Nadu and is drought prone area and people are depending the seasonal agriculture, fishing, quarry works and bricks making works. No perennial water and major industrial business are there and so it is very backward economically. This area is with costal and territorial ecosystems that the district with the borders of Thanjavure in its north, Sivagangai dist in its south, Trichy in its west and Bay of Bengal in its east.        

More aged persons have been abandoned by the families. They are unable to earn for his upkeep because of his age. Normally they were weak in health due to age, hunger and health problems. It was difficult for them to get even one meal a day.

ROSI Foundation stepped in to help. 29 aged persons under the support by Home running at Kilikudi (Pudukkottai dist). They had a pair of clothes and a plate. When we took them in. they were suffering severely from hunger, ill health; left isolated by their community. They are being provided food, clothes, medicine, recreation and accommodation. After the home support they are free of the feeling of isolation. They are now with a group of aged persons in the home with happiness in sharing their thoughts and problems with each other. They are under care and support in the home. Their health problems are solved and they are free from hunger.

The building is non-RCC and coconut leaf thatched that is temporary is given by Local Panchayat president if the place is owned to the Panchayat. The building is not sufficient to increase numbers and not safety when heavy rain and firing. Govt is also pressuring us to change the home to RCC building as per the Tamil Nadu Govt’s norms and regulation. In the area rented building is a horse horn because it is rural area and we are supporting to the rural aged only. Further we are only running home by donation and contribution. No specific fund for its.  So, monthly we are searching fund for the home running and building rent can be not spared by us in this condition In the condition we are under complication to run the home without own building.

Budget
Home specification and budget - 21’x70’ – 1470 sqft, RCC and two floor building with land - Budget of Rs 1182000 (USD 23640).
